Meta, the parent company of Facebook, brings a new virtual reality headset called Project Cambria Code. Recently, Meter CEO Mark Zuckerberg released a video showing the benefits of this new headset. Project Cambria is one of the few headsets that Meter plans to launch in a few years. This will allow developers to offer augmented reality-based technology services.
Cambria, the future of VR headset
The new headset feature from the META is the convenience of communicating in the virtual world with the real environment in its high resolution. This is called mixed reality. It was created using the meta’ ‘Presence Platform’. The platform was recently announced by Meter.
Meter Quest headsets now have the ability to display content in gray shades. However, Project Cambria will capture real-world scenes with the help of high-resolution image sensors. Meter has posted a two-and-a-half-minute video with various information about the Presence platform. This video shows the difference between Quest and Cambria headsets.
Augmented reality Project
Andrew Bosworth, chief technology officer (CTO) at Meter, said on Twitter that an updated version of the platform’s software development toolkit (SKD) would be unveiled by next week. It will have a complete artificial intelligence tool for the Presence platform. Features will include AI-Pastre, Spatial Anchor, Scene, Interaction, Voice SKD, and Hand Tracking API.
The video also shows a meta augmented reality project. The headset has been shown to work in a virtual office and augmented reality on a cloud workstation.
Is Meta the part of the Quest Headset series?
Meta has launched Quest, the gaming headset before. Quest 2 is the latest headset now. But meta has confirmed that in the line of headset market, Cambria will not be a part of this. As Quest only focused on low prices, with the most accessible entry-level VR headset, Which is quite affordable for the customer. But Cambria will be focused on the high-end market with more features. However, it will be a similar brand to Quest. But it will be more than Quest.
Face tracking feature
Cambria has a special sensor that will capture the facial movement and make your own virtual avatar and will show in front of you as a mirror. And while meeting up with friends, you will also know which of your friends is using Quest Or Cambria based on the expressive avatar.
Release date and pricing
So far, meta has not confirmed the release date yet. But most probably, it will come up within this year 2020. Before Meta released the headset during the holiday season or late spring. So hopefully, we can assume, It will come Between the second half of this year and shortly we will get a new name price and conformed released date within the coming month.
